Can I claim as a single parent whilst living with ex (no housing cost)

Hi all,
My ex has currently offered myself and kids to stay over at his house (mortgaged) for a while as I am unable to find a place of my own due to bad debts in the past and a very low credit score.
As I am not liable to pay any housing costs I will put down on my UC claim that I have no housing costs, single with 2 kids.
Is it possible for me to do this?
And is this fraud?

I think you would have to be very careful about explaining the situation to the DWP and be prepared to give extensive evidence to prove you are seperated and financially seperate in every way. They could potentially look at whether you eat together, do the shopping together, go on days out together etc.

It's not fraud so long as you are not in a relationship and you have the means to prove that.
Eg receipts for food, washing powder.
So it's clear you don't cook for each other or share household tasks.
If you don't own a home then he could charge you under rent a room and you could claim housing for that.

Thankyou for your responses. I can prove that we are financially seperate (all Bill's and mortgage under his name and obviously I would have to contribute to some of the bills). We never had joint bank accounts.
I know it sounds quite awful, but I had a gambling history, hence the very bad credit score which has left me unable to rent
