Can anybody offer any advice,
My sister moved out of a council property in October 2005 to go and live back with our mum and dad. I can remember writing the letter giving 4 weeks notice and remember that we had to phone the office to make sure they had received it which they did we made sure my sister had paid all of the rent owed etc on the day she moved out and we went and handed in the keys. Now 2 years later out of the blue we have a letter saying that she owes £192.00 as she never gave four weeks notice.
I dont have a copy of the letter as I did it when I was at work on a works computer.
What can we do? surely they cant come 2 years down the line saying we didnt give 4 week notice.
I know that we difinately did but it is just a case of our word against theres.
