Refund to expired card

I'm confused about what happens here ? So I bought lots of wedding suits from next and kept one and sent the rest back. This money all came out of my bank account which has expired in between. Next now say they have issued a refund and I can see the refund is on my PayPal account. I can see it's been sent to the account I bought it from but I've been sent a new debit card but the account number is different to before so the money has been sent to the old account number that no longer exists 😬 there is no refund showing on my bank account

You'd have to ask your bank, I think.

I’m pretty sure it will go onto your new card, as long as it’s for the same account. I’d double check with your bank though.

catsarebetterthandogs9 · 11/04/2021 15:01

Your account number shouldn't have changed with a new card?
Otherwise all of your direct debits wouldn't work anymore Confused

Ginisatonic · 11/04/2021 15:04

If it’s a debit card then it should be refunded but it can take a couple of days longer than usual.

Ginisatonic · 11/04/2021 15:05

Just to clarify. Is it your debit card number that has changed? Your bank account number is the same?

ineedaholidayandwine · 11/04/2021 15:05

I had this with Amazon, the money did make it to my account, just took a little longer

dementedpixie · 11/04/2021 15:09

The money should go to your bank but they may need to manually apply it to your account once they match up the old and new card numbers.

GreyhoundG1rl · 11/04/2021 15:10

It's the same account...

dementedpixie · 11/04/2021 15:14

Its only your card number that has changed, not your bank account. The bank will manually link the two cards and it should end up in your account eventually

viixie · 11/04/2021 18:19

@catsarebetterthandogs9 the long card number has changed 😬

Yeah that's just the card number. The account number will be the same. Don't worry it'll take a day or two longer that's all.

dementedpixie · 11/04/2021 18:21

The long number is not your account number, it is your card number. Your account number has not changed
