Technology ISAs

In 2004, DH took out a technology ISA and it is now worth one sixth of what he paid. However, the fund managers are still reaping in huge bonuses on their already over-inflated salaries, even though the fund is spectacularly under-performing. In my business, if you underperform, you get no pay rise and a warning to improve or else. These muppets get over-paid regardless of their performance.

We've come to the conclusion that a monkey could do a better job than these over-rated fund managers and we will never waste our hard earn cash on one these things again.

Thanks for that Twiglett. At the moment DH and I are so disillusioned with saving schemes of all kinds that we plan to invest all our spare cash into paying the mortgage off within the next 5 years. At least houses are a good long term investment and we don't have to fund the lavish lifestyle of some anoymous, po-face city fund manager.

City workers are always overpaid, and yes a monkey could do better. I think being a fund manager is a lot about pot luck unless you really are an expert, there are few of those about. paying off the mortgage is probably the smartest thing to do, as not many investments can ever beat the cost of interest payments!
