Anyone falling all the Dave Ramsey drama? Chris hogan gone and firing people for sex outside of marriage and an unmarried pregnant lady. I'm a huge fan of his financial advice but this just doesn't sit right with me.

He isn’t coming across well in these stories. I think a lot of people will be boycotting his products now, which is a shame in a why as there are a lot of people who could benefit from his help. Even if it isn’t necessarily the best way, it’s still a way to improve finances for a lot of people.

It’s still pretty hard to comprehend that this dark age puritanical crap comes out still. I bet most of his employees had sex outside of marriage.

I had heard a story that DR had fired a women for being pregnant outside of marriage but didn't really believe it if I'm honest. What DR groups are you in on facebook OP?

I'm a big fan of his methods, and I would call myself Dave-ish, but I have never been a fan of his conservative Christian values. As a personality, he is definitely marmite! I do like that you don't have to buy any of his products to follow the method.

Mamafurfur is a good UK person to follow.

I don't agree with his evangelical Christianity at all. But following his cash envelope system has saved my finances. For me it's possible to separate the two.

I'll still follow his baby steps. Soo close to becoming debt free. Won't be buying any of his books though.

It sounds like Chris Hogan was having extra-marital affairs which Ramsey initially covered up (a bit unfair if he’s sacking people for having pre-marital sex) but it’s now all come to light so Hogan has been fired.

I’ve listened to the show for years but it’s all becoming a bit cultish.

Many people have benefited from his advice but not all financial educators agree with his prohibition on borrowing, prioritising mortgage payoff over investment or repaying smallest debts before highest interest debts. The religious stuff is a bit creepy for the average Brit, plus not consistently applied as we have seen.

I've always largely ignored the religious aspect of it, however firing someone for having pre-marital sex is mind boggling to me!

I always find it a bit grating when he talks about having a "pronoun problem" for couples who live together but aren't married 🙄 DP are unmarried (at least for the next few months, covid allowing!!) but we have been living together and sharing finances for nearly 8 years now and it's always worked well for us (I appreciate this is not the case for everyone!)
