Tax credit - anyone got a date for the £500 payment yet?

JamesMiddletonsMarshmallows · 24/03/2021 12:24

I see a lot of tax credit recipients will be getting a £500 lump sum rather than the £20 a week - but has anyone had it yet or had a date for it? I get a small amount of tax credits and can't figure out if I'm eligible for the £500

Been reading up on MSE, if you can afford it it's worth putting it aside and paying the max contribution (£50 p/month) into your Help to Save account.

10 months free payments and double returns at the end of it!

If anyone has online banking, it may be worth checking pending transactions for tomorrow

Isaidnope · 15/04/2021 08:48

I can’t see pending payments (Barclays). I hope it’s in by tomorrow. I received the generic text about people on tax credits getting a one off payment so I’m guessing this means we qualify. We don’t get WTC (DH earns too much) but get CTC. I asked on webchat and he said if I got the text I’m most likely eligible. Keep checking every morning!

Kat2103 · 15/04/2021 09:04

I wish i could see pending payments 🙉 they told me mine was issued yesterday so im hoping its tomorrow

Flowerlane · 15/04/2021 09:13

Wonder if everyone’s will be tomorrow? Do they go in surname order again so maybe some will clear next week?

Flowerlane · 15/04/2021 09:14

Have online banking with NatWest. Doesn’t show pending money coming in. Sad

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 15/04/2021 09:20

Pretty sure mine won't be tomorrow

With hsbc so would see it pending but nothing

And i am pretty near start of alphabet

Tullyjune · 15/04/2021 09:27

Due to a change of circumstances I was switched from TC to UC last week. So I was claiming on the 2nd of March but no longer have an active TC account that I can see, it’s completely gone from my online tax account.

Yet I’m not yet assessed for UC so getting nothing.

I’ve completed missed out haven’t I? Story of my life 🤷‍♀️

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 15/04/2021 09:31

@Tullyjune you may still get it, you had to be getting tc on 2nd march which you were

Tullyjune · 15/04/2021 09:36

I’ll keep my fingers crossed but don’t expect anything!!

I'm on universal credits as top up and don't even receive the £20 a week 😂 me and my partner have not received anything during covid and not entitled to anything either, even tho after all our bills are paid we are left with hardly any money, sometimes I really don't think it's fair, I know a fair few people who's money never changes from being on full universal credits that receive this extra £20 a week just to feed there alcohol and drug needs, were not entitled to wtc and only get child element for our son which I highly doubt would make us eligible for the £500, would be nice to wake up to it tho 😂

I don't think they must be doing it alphabetically, my surname is nearer the end of the alphabet and mine is showing as pending. I hope you receive it soon 🤞
LastRoloIsMine · 15/04/2021 09:54

Emmy93 if you are on UC you will get the £20 uplift everyone on UC will.

Emmy93 · 15/04/2021 10:03

I've worked out my universal credit and I don't receive it 🤔 I get the normal standard allowance and the normal child tax credits, there's no extra £80 a month that I receive, I only switched to universal credits in August last year so thinking that might be why I don't receive it as that's when my partner moved in

Imtoooldforallthis · 15/04/2021 10:15

I noticed some of you mention an app, is this a HMRC app?

LastRoloIsMine · 15/04/2021 10:34

You can't claim tax credits and uc at the same time. When you make a uc claim it automatically stops your ctc.

You need to check this otherwise you will be hit with a huge overpayment of tax credits.

MyDcAreMarvel · 15/04/2021 10:35

@Emmy93 the current standard allowance includes the £80 a month. It will be reduced in six months.

MyDcAreMarvel · 15/04/2021 10:36

@LastRoloIsMine the poster means the standard and child elements of UC not actual CTC.

theshadeofgreen · 15/04/2021 10:45

Please can somebody help?!

I can see this payment pending to be paid tomorrow. I was in reciept of working tax credit on 2nd March, so understand that I'm eligible HOWEVER as my husbands earnings have jumped we will no longer be eligible (from April 1st). We contacted them last week and have received April's usual payment, though I fully expect to pay this back as I assume it was just processed before the account was updated.

So, although I was eligible on the 2nd March, will I still be able to keep the £500 even though I wouldn't be eligible now?
Thanks!

lollipoprainbow · 15/04/2021 10:52

My bank only shows pending what's going out not what's going in annoyingly !!

Leelee888 · 15/04/2021 10:56

Anyone who banks with Santander received it today? Can't see anything pending.

Thanks

Just done a live chat with barclays to see if anything is pending to go in tomorrow, he said no. I normally get my tax credits on a Friday so it may appear, who knows!!!
