Oh, Well you are dealing with charity ledgislation not staightforward accountancy.

Do you have a record of you passing the books over and the reciepts being transfered?

Have you now taken ever again?

In short noramlly the reciepts would be needed but if you don;t have them, you don't have them.

You will have to explain to the accountants / auditors and cross your fingers.

Ok, the loss of the reciepts is a bit of a nightmare realy. Given the ledgislation is so much tighter on charities than business it is expected that you need to prove avery penny of expenditure.

Reconstructing ledgers can be a tricky business but not impossible. YOu really should recommend that they get the advise of there accountant or auditor. YOu may need to jump through a few hoops to get round the receiprt.

For the record, I have been extensively involved with charities and finance for many years.

Yep that the solution. If you can work your way through and see what is missing and what needs to be redone / rebuilt you are in a better position. Some companies will issue duplicate reciepts - but you would need to contact the companies individually.

Hope you get on ok. If you need more help let me know.
