Has anyone received this? I was told to apply but have no idea how I'll know if it was successful or how it works. I've read it's vouchers but I can't find solid information on my council website
Thanks for any information

I have twice and it was a lifeline whilst I was on furlough and came on really hard times. You arent given masses but it was such a massive help. It's mostly paid in vouchers where you can select the retailer which in my experience was supermarkets which was perfect.
From application to receiving it was about 2 weeks. They have to call yo verify details and just find out your circumstances and what you need help with. I was worried at first. Felt rubbish for needing help but the girl who called was lovely. I received help towards foods, cleaning products, gas and electricity, my microwave blew up so help towards and new one and warm clothing for my little boy.
If its available to you definitely apply. It meant I could feed my child

Once you receive your call they send it off to see if you are successful. You will not be told what you are going to get. You only know this when they call back after 2 or 3 days to confirm if you have been successful or not. I do not believe there are set amounts and its done on a case by case basis however I have received £25 both times toward my gas and electric. So maybe that is a set amount.

When the girl at the council called I had no idea what to expect. She did say the Grant won't pay for things fully. It provides a contribution towards things. I just said I'm grateful for anything right now as at the time after all my bills were paid I had no money left from my furlough pay

Thankyou for taking the time to reply. The phone call to apply was last week some time I don't know if I was successful or not, maybe not if I haven't heard anything.
I'm glad it's helped people either way though and I hope times are easier for you all now too

Did you apply online and then they call you?

The process for me was I applied online and then I had the call around a week later. That was a Friday. I received my first award the following Monday. When I had to make my next application it once again took about a week to get the call which was a Friday and I got my award the next Wednesday.
It's my understanding they have to tell you if you are successful or not as there is an option to ask them to rethink their decision if you aren't happy.

Do you not have a follow up contact number?

Citizens advice did it all for me on the phone due to other issues we were talking about. I wouldn't know who to call to chase up

Oh that's abit annoying that you don't have a follow up reference. As you went through citizen's advice hopefully they have a record of your application?

I was successful both times with expenses like food, cleaning and gas and electricity. I was amazed I was given help towards me microwave, and clothing for my son but I was.

I wont pry into your circumstances but if you need help with day to day things then you should be successful.

@SpideyMom I think it's great that there are ways people are being helped it a weight off I'm sure.
I'm going to call citizens advice to see, only so I can budget properly now.
