Child benefit help

Hi Iput in for child benefit and got my childs birth certificate back a week ago but have had no other letters or anything from them
How do you know if you have been awarded child benefit
and do they usually send the birth certificate back first

Anyone any advice please how soon after you got borth certificate was it until you got paid

It usual times it took 6 weeks to set up a new child benefit claim.

They will return the birth certificate and send you a letter to say your claim is being processed. I can't remember if it tells you when to expect your first payment, but it only took 2-3 weeks for me and they will backdate you.
