Just remember, Castle never bought that castle 😂🏰 she rented it for a short time. How much is her directors loan these days? 450k?

Bluewavescrashing · 21/02/2021 16:49

The bots’ own goal boards always put me in mind of children cutting stuff the want out the Argos catalogue omg yes!

Watchingyou2sleezes · 21/02/2021 17:33

Renting houses:
clearly the biznizz income wouldn't stand up to scrutiny when examined by lenders for purchasing say an @£800k house.

Some observers might suggest that certain MLM "6 figure" bots are likely to be serial non payers of rent. A clue would be to look at those that move several times in a few short years, usually with a consistent downward trajectory from the one heady year of a "large" bonus cheque.

One "glorious" now non couple departed a premises late last year at exactly the same time that bailiff enforced evictions (now back on hold) were reactivated- make of that what you will....

thetemptationofchocolate · 21/02/2021 17:37

Many years ago when I was a bot there was a couple who were held up as fantastic leaders with a strong marriage and a huge income.
It was quite a shock to me when they divorced and one half of the couple ended up working in a supermarket. Now I can see it more clearly I would suspect the supermarket was more lucrative than their 'business', even in their glory days.

thetemptationofchocolate · 21/02/2021 17:38

...and that pair's fall from grace was nothing compared to another pair who ended up promoting online gambling, when their 'business' went down the toilet. So much for ethics there!

ketosavedmylife · 21/02/2021 17:45

@Digcho

Another newbie to the thread here. I’ve been reading about the Shannan Watts murder and her involvement in the Le-Vel Thrive MLM in America. It’s crazy, she was portrayed as one of the company’s success stories, yet had filed for bankruptcy in 2015 and was in dire trouble again, in arrears with the mortgage and 20 maxed out credit cards, some in her young daughter’s name. There was over $20k of product in the basement of her home and it appears that she wasn’t earning anything. If you Google ‘Shannan Watts vision board’ you can see how delusional she was, things like ‘Mortgage free in 2 years’ but wasn’t even making the monthly payments. She’d made her 4 year old daughter Bella do a board, which is possibly the most sad thing I’ve seen.
Goodness, @Digcho, I had gone down a rabbit hole last year about this family. It started with The Family Next Door on netflix and went onto the many spin-off videos on youtube, where I discovered her link to MLM.

OMG! I had no idea about just how deluded she was with Le-vel and the vision boards. It is truly dreadful what happened to her and her little girls, in fact its beyond dreadful Sad.

lachy · 21/02/2021 17:46
@lachy if you Google “Forever Living+Castle” all will be revealed.

Did Virgin Vie go bump? I have a vague recollection of someone selling it years ago.
It was all very odd. I left in 2005 - they'd started selling jewellery and homewares and then at some point parted ways with Virgin and became Vie at Home.

They also bought an aromatherapy company (Likisma) IIRC.

I'm not sure when they went to the wall, but they definitely don't exist now.

Hunbot · 21/02/2021 17:50

Certainly not going to get into victim blaming with shannon watts but there is a huge potential that her business may have contributed to the stress at home and things going wrong. Clearly her husband was 100% to blame there and those poor little girls however could the business have contributed to some of the stress in the family? It is entirely possible. Didnt it happen the night she came back from a conference?

ketosavedmylife · 21/02/2021 17:51
is the latest installment of a series which delves in detail into the serious unethical tactics used by a so-called professional in order to entice vulnerable people into her downline. Its quite shocking, actually, and reminds me of the ways that MLM use subliminal methods to guide/groom people and exploit them without their consent.

Homeschool’s hubby, the dungareed guru, was working as a delivery driver at the same time as they were pretending to be doing really well in the new network marketing business I strongly suspect that universal credit is providing for that family and all the claims about multiple income streams forget to mention that one
Digcho · 21/02/2021 18:30

@ketosavedmylife @Hunbot it’s unbearable to think what happened to Shannan and those beautiful girls. Of course her husband is 100% to blame for their deaths. I read that the Netflix documentary was made with the co-operation of Shannan’s family, and therefore put her in the best light, and it didn’t address their dire financial situation which was undoubtedly was a major factor in this tragedy. She had just returned from a ‘business trip’ which she had to pay to attend, and in her final hours her credit card was declined as she tried to purchase some Monat shampoo, another MLM company.

I believe this is the most overlooked consequence of the MLM industry.

How fucked up do you have to be to advise one of your downline that because your spouse has dared to question the validity of what they are doing that they should divorce them as they are negative influences in your life?

Children then suffer the disrupted upbringing of being part of a separated family with all the baggage that comes with that.

Watchingyou2sleezes · 21/02/2021 19:02

I strongly suspect universal income/tax credits- whatever it is now called- have been propping up this mob of retrobates for a long time.
Now that they've had a concious uncoupling (I smell a scam of some sort in there too) we're all getting the pleasure of paying for both legs of the day to day needs of these scammers. Remember WW Wang's the best part of 2K for his wisdom...
Hopefully at that price point it's enough to frighten off everyone that can't afford to waste £ on such shite.

MyVisionsComeFromSoup · 21/02/2021 19:33

don't know if anyone watches SortedFood (a Youtube cooking channel/community), but they pulled a video today which had a segment using Doterra oils within about half an hour of its upload, because they only realised that it was an MLM when loads of comments were pointing out how unethical the company was.

Target audience is probably 20-30 somethings, a lot in the US and Canada, and it was really refreshing to see how little truck they were having with MLMs in general. And also the Sorted team who massively apologised straightaway and were very clear that they didn't support MLMs. Public opinion is definitely turning Smile

Spongebobette · 21/02/2021 19:36

That’s great to hear

BSintolerant · 21/02/2021 20:19

@thetemptationofchocolate could you give us a clue who the two pairs of bots are?

As for Weird Willy, I hope that anyone who has money to spend on self-development considers therapy with a qualified practitioner rather than wasting it to feed this fool’s ego.

MrDarcysMa · 22/02/2021 08:00

Jasper neilsen anyone?

Digcho · 22/02/2021 08:50

@MrDarcysMa Yes I’ve seen this jewellery, it’s part of the Pandora company? A lady I know who sells Avon, Body Shop and FM has started this too.

dickiedavisthunderthighs · 22/02/2021 11:57

They're all claiming it's part of Pandora but the reality is that the fella behind it left the company under a big cloud, and was subsequently sued by them for using Pandora's name in his new venture. I think the jewellery is likely to be shit.

northdownsouth7 · 22/02/2021 14:33

Anyone heard of The Freedom Movement? Looks like a travel one. Someone I know has just started with them and I’m shocked she’s working with them at a time of no travel and with no skills/ qualifications in that area (but is very talented in other areas). Also not shocked as she used to do Herbalife about 8-10 years ago, way before my knowledge of what MLMs were and how they worked. Confused

BS I'm not very good at clues but it was many years ago (early 90s) and the MLM was Amway. I don't think many of the top bots (or any of the underlings) from those days are still in Amway as they were dropped like hot coals when the DTI said their business model was illegal. It was a right mess and proves the point that when you join an MLM it is NOT your business as you can be terminated at any time no matter how many people you have managed to con into joining.

Digcho · 22/02/2021 15:19

@dickiedavis that makes sense, the stuff does look quite nice, but I imagine it’s very flimsy.

imabothunter · 22/02/2021 17:16

@9dartfinish2nd - shocking really as I heard about how couples have split over an MLM. How heartless and greedy must those uplines be to put money before someone's family... so sad

I have a colleague who was a travel bot and then very recently started posting about The Freedom Movement. She's now selling lotions and potions and diet kits, and talking about getting in at ground level etc. So I don't think it's travel related, I think it's another beauty product related one.

For a long time Uber’s surname has put me in mind of something your chiropodist might recommend.
I was involved in the early MLM threads. I came across Yawn on my FB feed, she was involved with some of the school gate mums, although not a mum at the school. I steered well clear, I’m allergic to Aloe Vera, but was intrigued. A bit of digging on google led me here. I haven’t posted much lately but still regularly see Yawn in my local supermarket. She used to do a lot of recruitment meetings in the cafe.
