Universal credit and seperation

Hi all, Me and my (now ex) partner made a claim for universal credit, we are still in the 1st assessment period with 1st payment due next week. We have now split up, what happens now. I havent updated uc yet. Do we both need to login and update? Will the claim end altogether? I will still be entitled to uc but he wont. What happens with the repayments of the advance? Im happy for them to still be taken from my entitlement only.

Any advice appreciated. Im abit worried i will need to wait another 5 weeks for money with moving to a single claim

You need to report a change of circumstances that you have split. One of you can keep that claim and the other will need to make a new claim if they are likely to be eligible for Uc on their own. You are meant to report the change on the day it happens.

@Babyroobs i read that its the person that declares the change 1st that gets taken off the claim. Is that correct?

I'm not sure to be honest. Would your ex qualify for Uc on his own?

No he wouldnt qualify. Il have the 4 kids plus 1 is disabled so we get the premium etc. He earns a decent wage
