Hi, I'm just wondering if anyone has had one of these? I have one on Wednesday afternoon and have never heard of it. I'm single and only claiming UC for unemployment as living with family at the moment. Is it just a routine call?

Thanks

No but you reminded me I had one scheduled during early lockdown #1. They didn't call. I only get £80 in tc so not a priority I imagine.

So just claiming uc and not hb etc? Have you checked you are claiming correctly?

ComeCovidCloser · 23/01/2021 16:58

@nevernotstruggling I think I'm claiming correctly. I don't need any other benefits other than UC at the moment as I'm living with my dad and can't see that changing anytime soon.

Are you sure it's a compliance interview and not just the normal appointments you have with your work coach ?

Babyroobs · 23/01/2021 17:16

There are two reasons UC will call you usually. they may call you to verify your claim if you are a new claimant and weren't able to verify your ID online. This appointment will just check your ID. Then after that you will have routing appointments with your work coach to see what steps you are taking to look for work and they may help you with courses etc.

I've been on UC for 5 months now after losing my job last year. I have regular phone appointments with my work coach but got a letter with an appointment for a compliance interview with someone else.

It's not routine, there as been a referral for you. See this Freedom of Information request that explains it in more detail.

Meant to say, if you're living with your Dad and claiming as a single person not in a relationship, it may be something as simple as proving the man you live with it your Dad and not your domestic partner.

Hard to imagine what it could be for ? Could someone have a grudge against you or have said you are working cash in hand or have a partner living with you or something ? These are the most obvious reasons. If you have done nothing wrong then just be honest and you have nothing to worry about.

Yes exactly, especially if they have the same surname. These kind of mix ups happen all the time.

Ok, I'm a little worried now :/ I don't think anyone has a grudge against me. I rarely leave the house at the moment due to depression which I am getting treatment for.

I think I've been a bit stupid too, when I filled the form for UC I didn't tell them about a savings account that I had as it was less than 6000 so didn't think I had to declare it. Do you think it could be that? I also used it to pay back money I borrowed from my aunt. Shit, am I in trouble? She gave me cash before I lost my job and used those savings recently to give it back to her.

My anxiety/ depression can't take this at the moment Sad

When he calls on Wednesday I will tell him but will I be sanctioned if it is that?

You should declare all savings but like you say anything under 6k wouldn't be taken into account anyway so it's not like you have been paid too much or anything. Just explain that it was money owed to someone.
