PIP being extended

Has anyone else had a letter that their pip is being extended? Is it actually the case and they won't review it when they're supposed to or are they extending it to cover their backs but may actually still review it on the date they said initially.

Pip is until May 2022
It's been extended until February 2023

Hope that made sense

Mine was due for review in December 2020. I had a letter saying it was being extended until September 2021, but they still asked for evidence at the “normal’ time (although they haven’t seemed to do anything with it as yet as I’ve heard nothing back and the payments are still going in!)

I got a letter today, I was due for reassessment next month. It has been extended until Dec 2022. I am very relieved as it is always stressful renewing it and the assessments, and my condition is the same as always (infact worse due to lockdown).

Purpleneonpinkunicorns · 19/01/2021 03:40

I had a letter today to say its being extended until 2023 also.

Suzi888 · 19/01/2021 03:43

It’s due to covid. The assessments are being delayed until the new dates shown on your letters.

Timbucktime · 19/01/2021 11:09

My child’s award was due to end in December 2021 but I was expecting a renewal form in December 2020 as for whatever reason you have to renew 1 year before the award ends.
We didn’t receive a renewal form just a letter to say the award is being extended to September 2022.

Heaven knows when to expect the new renewal form.

Timbucktime · 19/01/2021 11:11

Everyone’s wording seems different on their letters.

My husband's was due for renewal in February 2022, so I assumed that he would have a review next month with it being done a year in advance (strange system) He received a letter saying its been extended to November 2022, but does that mean his review will be in November 2021 or they will actually leave him alone until November 2022?

Fourmoos · 19/01/2021 12:50

I’m still on Disability Living Allowance, I keep expecting to be moved over to pip but it hasn’t happened yet.

This isn't true, I'm afraid. People can still be assessed at any time after their renewal was originally due (it's been 6 months rather than a year before end date for a while now, unless awarded by tribunal). If you receive the forms you have to send them back or your award will be stopped, regardless of any extension you've had. They're just trying to make sure that people aren't cut off if their award ends before it has had chance to be reviewed.

My last award was due to end in October last year so I was expecting the form in April, but instead got an extension until April 2021. The review form arrived in August, so I didn't get the full 6 month's extension. Between me submitting the form and receiving the result, I was sent another extension letter until July 2021! But obviously the review was underway and my new award superseded that.

Fourmoos, have you had a letter saying you need to apply for PIP yet?
Fourmoos · 19/01/2021 13:22

Mygazebo, no I’ve never heard a thing, just keep getting my DLA.

Timbucktime · 19/01/2021 13:59

Why do they have to make it so confusing. So basically even though the award has been extended to Sep 2022 we could receive a renewal form at any time between now and then. Great!

MsKL · 19/01/2021 15:31

Mine was due for review September 2020. I received a review form and returned it, then got a letter saying it had been extended to August 2021, then a text saying thanks for returning the form, we may need to see you! So it's anyone's guess what'll happen!

MyGazeboisLeaking · 19/01/2021 18:23

Sounds good then. They would notify you if you needed to make a PIP claim.

smoothchange · 19/01/2021 18:28

DH got a letter in October saying it would be extended then he got a review letter in November and was told to ignore the extension.

Gingerkittykat · 19/01/2021 18:37

I got a letter today, the award was due to expire in June 2022 and has been extender until March 2023. I was really surprised they wrote to me so early when I still had 15 months left to run on my award.

Someone else I know had her award made a lifetime one but she has a spinal injury so will never recover mobility.
