I have a valid mot and insurance but cannot find the wretched reminder which was sent to me last week which I think is a V11. Do I need that too?

Please help - if Ihave to go to the post office tomorrow with 4 children in tow and am refused I will go into meltdown

can't you do it online now?

I'm pretty sure I did my last one this way

ring em up

You can take the registration document instead.

Katymac · 28/10/2007 16:46

If you do it on-line you don't need the letter (if I remember right)

zookeeper · 28/10/2007 17:10

I thinkI'm too late to do it online as it is dispatched within 5 days of applying and mine expires at the end of the month - can't see anywhere that says you're covered if you've applied but have no disc.
Thanks for your suggestions everyone - I'll try registration doc

I'm pretty sure you're covered as soon as you apply.

WendyWeber · 28/10/2007 17:24

You need the reminder in order to do it online because it has a code number on it

ScaryScienceT · 28/10/2007 18:32

You can do it online if you have your registration document. They will already know about your MOT and insurance.

nimnom · 29/10/2007 08:21

zookeeper, I've just done mine online and it usually comes within a couple of days IME.
There's also a section for applications without the reminder.

staryeyed · 29/10/2007 19:21

zookeeper you are NOT covered if you aren't displaying a valid tax disc!

kittylouise · 29/10/2007 19:23

You don't need the reminder to do it online - you can do it with the V5.

I would personally do that rather than schlepp to the post office with 4 kids!

zookeeper · 30/10/2007 23:01

Guess what?

Went to the PO today with kids and docs - queued and then realised that I didn't have the mot certificate - I still don't know whether I dropped it in the street or left it at home.

The man behind the counter didn't bat an eyelid and issued the disc anyway.

I could have kissed him

The MOT thing is on-line now & when your registration number is put in, it will tell them if it is valid or not (I think it's the same for insurance as well)
