On friday i applied for uc, i took the advance payment. Today i logged in and noticed theres another advance amount there slightly higher than the 1st advance amount. Anyone ever had this? Surely its a mistake?

Did you take only part of the advance and then ask for some more later on?

It might be a budgeting advance. Just ask your wc

This usually happens when they offer you the baseline rate for your circumstances - once they’ve properly calculated what you are entitled to the advance can go up or down.

I would advise not taking it if you don’t need it, I’ve worked with many people that are then stuck with high repayments for 12 months afterwards and really struggle.

It's just that when they offered you the initial amount, things like rent and kids may not have been verified at that point but have been now so they offer you extra.

Ok thankyou both. I wasn't planning on taking it i was just curious as to why it was there.
