CCICM overpayment?

Hello!

Not quite sure if this is a scam or not. Over the past week or so, I have received a text from CCICM every other day requesting me to contact them regarding a case number. I have assumed it's spam and have kept deleting it. I have however googled the company and it looks like they're a debt collector company and looks legal. Other than my student loan, I have no debts and barely use my credit card.

Today I received a text message informing me that there was a formal letter attached so I have had a look and it is addressed to me at an old address. According to this letter, I have been overpaid £3700 by a previous employer (I lived at the address when I worked for this employer) who I worked for until about 2 or 3 years ago. I no longer have the bank account I had when I was employed by this company and have no way of checking if this is legit, other than by making contact with this company.
Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Do not acknowledge the debt.

Get some debt/legal advice first as to whether the alleged debt is recoverable.

Have you got access to free legal advice via work or an insurance policy?

You could also try free debt advisers such as Stepchange or citizens advice.

Surely you must have been informed about any payment.
