UC savings query ....

I have recently had to claim UC after my partners death
I have just received a small pension of 125 for me and 67 a month for my child which I think is deducted £1 for £1 so takes me down to around £400 per month
Also I have a lump of £14000
So will be classed as income of £4.85 ish I think per £250 I have read , the first 6K is disregarded so approx reduced by £150so that takes me down to 250 UC
I'm hoping once furlough is finished in April ( currently flexible furlough so same amount every month Of 1160) and receive full pay ... praying job is still available at full hours .. the extra 20% will increase my wage by £200 approx . So UC will go down again

but my query is if I have to use some of the savings some months eg emergencies or replace items how does it work as it would change the amount awarded as savings decrease ?
Do I tell them or show bank statements? Hope this makes sense

I would keep bank statements/ receipts for any large items. It's ok to spend savings responsibly to pay debts or replace items as long as it's reasonable. Take a look at the deprivation of capital rules. I think you can just let them know on your journal when savings decrease by each £250 and they will adjust the amount taken off ( £4.35 for every £250 over 6k ). Sorry for your loss.

Don’t forget to claim

Sorry for your loss. Don’t forget to claim your bereavement support payment. Look on gov.uk to check eligibility.

@oddbutnotodd yes I have a current claim but have just received notice of pensions Which tbh I didn't expect as he had cancelled it in 2009 as we couldn't afford the payments so it was a surprise really , I have never claimed any benefits before so it's all a learning curve, just want to have everything above board and get the new year on a level footing , so many changes to deal with my head is spinning

Unfortunately as we weren't married I don't qualify for the bereavement support payment , luckily he had put me down as beneficiary for the pension initially , it really does show the importance of being married as 28 years together counts for nothing , ironically we had planned to finally marry next year , longest engagement in history ! Its not just a piece of paper as many think but thankfully he had some foresight to provide something for us
