Side hustle - online surveys

Hi all,

So I'm struggling about since lockdown with money.. work has cut my hours back to suit the demand of the business and I've still got my home, bills etc to take care of.
I was looking online and I noticed a lot of companies that 'pay out' to complete surveys etc.. this sounds a bit too good to be true?!

Has anybody got experience of this or know the best websites that offer this?

I work for a company that does market research fieldwork, which is recruiting people to take part in surveys, sending them the surveys and paying them for completing them.

Some things to be aware of...

  1. A lot of consumer panels pay in points or pay very low incentives.
  2. Some providers only pay incentives when the study has closed, which may be 6-8 weeks after you take part.
  3. Niche providers will pay more eg if you have a health condition you could joint a patient panel. You will get paid significantly more for this.
  4. Qualitative research (ie face to face or remote with a webcam) pays much better than surveys. You will only be able to do one qual study every six months or so though unless you sign up with lots of companies.

Have a look for fieldwork providers on the Market Research Society website to find reputable places to sign up with. Someone like Research Opinions would be a good place to start for qual research (not my company but we have some overlap and I've been a respondent for them before I worked in the industry).

Have a look at the original post on this thread. Lots of online survey websites etc that you could earn extra money from.

I’m signed up for a few survey sites inc Yougov and Prolific, and get maybe £50 a few times a year. It’s a nice little bonus but I wouldn’t rely on it as a regular or significant income.

Oh Angelfish can be decent too but you need to meet their specific requirements to be accepted. This is more market research based than surveys. I think I maybe get one a year and earn maybe £30-70
