Think I’ve been scammed - any advice?

I’m really ashamed of myself but believe I’ve been scammed today. I missed out on some tickets to a Santa event and I was really keen to go as my son’s birthday is just before Xmas. I commented on the venue’s Facebook page asking if more tickets would be going on sale, and was then contacted by someone saying they were selling their tickets. Long story short I transferred the money, never received the tickets and now the person has disappeared from Facebook. I’m so upset as I was so excited to be able to take my son for his birthday, and really disappointed I fell for this scam. Has anyone been in a similar situation and been able to get the money back from PayPal? I’ve reported it to them and my bank. Any more advice? Can’t believe I fell for this as I’m normally so careful :-(

Did you gift the money or was it done as a transaction?

Henbo · 02/12/2020 22:28

It was done through the friends and family option

Yes sorry they don't offer protection for those types of payments.
Hope you wasn't stung for too much.

Oh no. Never pay friends and family unless they are. You're not protected.

I hope it wasn't much.
