DLA renewal

DS is 12 and has been receiving high rate care since birth. It's always renewed every 3 to 4 years.
This year it was due but they wrote to me in April saying they would extend it until the end of February 2021 instead of it ending in August due to covid.

I had heard they were extending again until 2022 due to covid 19 bit nope, form has arrived

The issue we have is we haven't been able to sort his EHCP, CAHMs, or had any appointments as such this year, since mid last year, and we had just changed from another hospital and had to wait to be seen for that. We have only just been given a named consultant.

I feel like they are using covid as an excuse to revoke it. We've had to appeal every single time. He will always have his illnesses, they are lifelong so I don't understand why we have to renew anyway

Has anyone had to renew recently, did they take covid delays into account as I feel like they should as I'm not responsible for the NHS basically closing unless you have the virus.

Any tips as they seem to change the goal posts every time.
Just don't need the stress right now and we use the little money we get to provide him with a much needed own room.

My daughters renewal was extended for 6 months. I renewed in October and just sent in everything I had from birth to now. I explained on the form that I didn't have any recent evidence due to covid and hers was renewed with the same amounts hrc & hrm. I did get a letter from the school as well.

Have you seen the Cerebra guide? I used this to help fill the forms. Some is irrelevant but it was really helpful to know exactly what kind of info was needed. I renewed DS's (also 12) in March, just before lockdown and the most recent document I had was from Jan 2019. I did send off lots of previous documents from diagnosis onwards (so from when he was 4) and basically treated the form like it was a brand new claim if that makes sense. It was renewed HRC, LRM for another 5 years. Good luck.

Hi I was just wondering has anyone’s chillis DLA been extended longer than 6 months my LG is due to end December 15th, I send renewal forms back in September, phone dwp today and they said it’s not with decision maker yet but it has been extended to feb 21 is this true as my next payment is due the day the award was supposed to end. Thank you

My ds' was due to be up at the beginning of November, I haven't heard anything and I'm still getting the payments. I think they have a big backlog due to being off in lockdown 1, I don't think they are doing this to penalize claimants. They should understand that the vast majority of people haven't seen a HCP regularly since March.
