Just back from maternity leave, chance of getting new mortgage?

Hi all,

I’ve just come back from maternity leave and me and the DH have decided now would be a great time to move with stamp duty hol and the need for more space now we had DS.
We’re already with hsbc and so we’ve applied for a new mortgage with them (will be paying early repayment charges but not much).
They have asked only for 1 months pay slip from each of us, I’ll be sending them my Nov payslip as that’s my most recent, but where I came back from ML half way through the month it’s only half a months pay, do you think they’ll accept that as sufficient proof of income if I mention I’ve just returned from maternity leave??

Thanks!

They will question it and will probably either request Dec's payslip or a letter from your employer clarifying you're employed and earning however much your monthly basic is. Assuming you have childcare costs now you're back, this will also negatively affect your application

Sorry I don't know the answer but you could always or your mortgage to save you paying the ERC, and borrow the additional on top as a separate account. Worth looking into depending on the interest rate of your current mortgage and what's on offer now.

Sorry that should say you could always port your mortgage!

We remortgaged earlier in the year including an extra £60k for an extension whilst I was on the unpaid part of maternity leave, they asked for my payslip from before the maternity leave.

Nice! Who’s your mortgage lender out of interest?
