Looking for a fixed rate bond paying slightly more than zilch! I already have an equity portfolio so want to have something low-ish risk alongside it. Don't mind tying it up for 2/3 years. Can't seem to get on to any comparison sites that don't require all my details up front. Thanks in advance.

Not sure where you're looking but most best buy tables don't need any details upfront, eg Savings Champion, Moneysupermarket, etc. Quick search suggests rates of 1.25% and 1.4% are the best at the moment for 2 and 3 year bonds. That seems quite poor given the inconvenience of the tie-ins but that's just my opinion.

Thanks - yes i think I'll have to shelve the bond idea. It's hard to know what to do really. I want to diversify and go lower risk than equities but 1% or thereabouts is fairly pointless. Ah well.

Have you looked at deposit-based structured products? The deposit-based bit gives some protection to the capital, but the gamble is on how the chosen index performs. Not too dissimilar to Premium Bonds in a way. There are also SPs that are not deposit-based, but those do put all the capital at risk so steer clear as wouldn't meet your lower risk objective.

That's a very good idea @Sunseed thank you. I'll investigate.
