Ordered item from Amazon, never arrived, no refund yet

I ordered and paid for a monitor for WFH 10 weeks ago, about £120. The last date for it to arrive came and went on Thursday the 6th of November. I contacted and was told by the manufacturer I’d get a refund within 5-7 working days. That will be by tomorrow. If no refund is forthcoming (I’m not holding my breath) , I imagine my option is to get in touch with Amazon to raise a case. How effective does this tend to be and how quickly do they refund? Thank you.

Contact amazon direct through the app. Ask for a refund. We’ve did this, this week, for an order which was delivered - but not to us or our neighbours. Refund issued within 48 hours. Can ask for a gift card refund to you amazon account or a refund via method of payment - credit card etc.

Thanks @Bargebill19 I have done so. Let’s hope they refund soon. Lesson learnt, I’ll go to John Lewis next time. Their prices are actually no higher than Amazon.

Just an update- the reply I got via the Amazon app was from the seller and obviously the same automated message they sent me when I first contacted after goods failed to arrive. No refund yet and today’s the cut off date for 7 working days. So I rang customer service at Amazon and had a long talk with the handler, the upshot is Amazon are now looking into it and say I’ll get a refund by the 27th of November. Goods 1st ordered on 10 th of September. I’m not happy and have left a poor review on sellers website. Let’s see if it actually gets posted. I’ve ordered a monitor from John Lewis which I can collect from Waitrose tomorrow. Lesson learnt. No more buying from sellers based in China.

Can I ask what number you used?
I have somebody else's parcel. I want to speak to Amazon to arrange a pick-up but cannot get through on the 0800 number I have. I have rung it about a dozen times and it is permanently engaged.

whataboutbob · 16/11/2020 11:33

I requested a call via my account. They called back promptly and the number in my phone is 020 7023 7937. Good luck.

Thanks!

Go onto Amazon and contact them
through chat, much quicker than phone calls

kittiefisher · 16/11/2020 14:42

The phone number doesn't accept incoming calls.
If I go to the website and go to 'contact us', they want me to sign up and create an account.
Why are they making it so difficult to contact them?

Sorry, intended-recipient but I'm not going to go out of my way to sort out somebody else's foul up.Sad

whataboutbob · 16/11/2020 17:16

Oh dear I suspected that might be the case.

Is your name on the parcel or is it someone else’s? Is it your address on there. Beware of scams where you receive stuff you didn’t order.

Moral of the story is only buy Amazon Prime items. I've stopped buying from them unless it's Prime. That way, you can get an almost instant refund if not delivered or returned faulty. Amazon marketplace sellers are really no safer to use than Ebay.

kittiefisher · 16/11/2020 17:33

Our address. Wrong-by-one-digit postcode.
There's a name but I don't know if it is intended-recipient or the supplier/retailer (it sounds more like a company name than a person's name!)
Beware of scams where you receive stuff you didn’t order.
This is why I wanted to speak to Amazon, to get proper instructions.

whataboutbob · 16/11/2020 18:23

Are you saying you don’t have an Amazon account? Just asking because it seems most of the scams are to people who do have an account.

I don't. DH does.

What scam should I be worried about? I didn't sign for anything. The courier dumped and ran.

There’s different scams. People might pretend to be you and leave a great review for this product.
Or the one above which seems to be operating in Hertfordshire.
Maybe use your DHs account to book a call with Amazon if you can ?

Eeek. Thanks for the heads-up.
