Hi all those of you who do work for Potato - how difficult is is to meet the performance standards? And do you see much disturbing content? Having read the guidelines I am now slightly scared! I haven't taken the screening test yet but need to do it by tomorrow to meet their deadline and I am a bit worried now as it took me a few goes to pass the initial assessment.

I have been working for them since the end of June. I have had 2 items where the content was disturbing - one was a naked erect willy and the other was a horrible picture of a dog (not going to go into any more detail).

When you ask how difficult it is to meet the performance standards do you mean the amount of items or not making errors? I was very slow to start with as scared of making mistakes. I am faster now although don't think I am as fast as some on here.

I have been told I made 1 mistakes which was not identifying a vulnerable person. I didn't mark it as such as it seemed an obvious joke but was told I should not assume that and always mark them as a risk.

I do wish they would give feedback on how items are classed as I still don't feel I am classifying them all 100% correctly.

Don't worry about the test as I was absolutely certain I had failed it but, obviously, I hadn't I got accepted over a year after taking the initial test so had forgotten everything!

I’ve been doing it for most of this year. Disturbing content, depends what you mean. The worst for me is reading some quite openly racist Comments. Summer was a real eye opener. (FYI you are flagging this stuff). Getting a vulnerable user is quite unsettling. A lot of the clients are big household brand names, you aren’t on the dark depths of Reddit. Go as slow as you need to, and read all the options before you classify. Ask if you’re not sure. Shift supervisors are usually quite helpful.

I got a couple of strikes One for missing a vulnerable user, they were obviously joking, but feedback was always assume the worst.

Most of the time, it’s very routine, as soon as I click submit I’ve forgotten what it’s about.

tinkywinkyshandbag · 29/11/2020 13:50

Thanks both! Very helpful.

Christianartistmum · 29/11/2020 14:48

I have the same issue of no jobs available as you described Yonder and exact same project! It’s been very frustrating. Keep trying just like you but it doesn’t help.

MrsWombat · 29/11/2020 20:21

@tinkywinkyshandbag Most of the work comes from social media platforms which have their own safeguards for dodgy stuff so it’s been filtered by them before it comes to us. It’s generally words we have to deal with.

tinkywinkyshandbag · 29/11/2020 20:23

@MrsWombat thank you

seizethecuttlefish · 29/11/2020 20:36

Only you lot will appreciate my excitement, I have cashed out £5 on Vypr!

OP posts:
Redcrayons · 29/11/2020 21:27

Vypre, I’d completely forgotten about that. I think I’ve got some cash in there. Well done.

Anyone done the shopping tasks on Maru, used to be called Edigital research? Loads of invites just came through.

YonderTweek · 30/11/2020 10:31

Haha. It took me absolutely ages to make £5 on Vypr, but I was so pleased when I did. I started again but forgot all about it. I just uninstalled Streetbees because the pay has gone way down. It's a shame because I really liked the tasks. 🙈

Someone mentioned PlayCrowd earlier and I'm intrigued.

superpinkgirl · 30/11/2020 11:29

Morning! Has anyone that is on project A**r had anything show up on their invoice yet? Getting a little concerned!

YonderTweek · 30/11/2020 11:33

@superpinkgirl I think we should be seeing something in the next couple of days. I read somewhere that they might even add funds after we've submitted the invoices, but I'm not really sure how that works. In the project chat no-one has received anything yet.

superpinkgirl · 30/11/2020 11:35

@YonderTweek Fab, thank you. Fingers crossed hear something in the next few days.

@pronxcessxo Ahh, I tried to register just now but it wouldn't recognise my phone number. I'm really not having a good time with technology at the moment. 😅

ZetaPuppis · 30/11/2020 14:39

Have any of the potato people find the file work? I’m just wondering if it’s difficult or quite straightforward. Do you have to be quite experienced?

As it's available to everyone it must be straightforward. Recent message about it says it's 'very easy'. I would like to do some as keep having log on problems, but don't have excel. I'm wondering if I could still do it using excel on google onedrive? I use that to produce my invoices using their excel template.
ElectricEels · 30/11/2020 16:17

@ZetaPuppis it's a piece of piss

@Snowballs1 I do it through google drive as I don't have excel.

Redcrayons · 30/11/2020 16:21

So long as you’ve got an idea of risks then it’s really straightforward. If it’s you're first week, I’d probably swerve it for now.

oh thanks, I'll ask for some then Smile

whysotriggered · 30/11/2020 16:49

I applied for Crisp back in May 2019 and have finally been invited to move to the next stage. LOL, definitely better late than never!

Frenchdoors1 · 30/11/2020 17:00

I've just received the email from Crisp and I applied in October 2019.
Not sure about doing it now though after reading that it's slow sometimes and then all the tools you get and all the different parts to it seems a bit confusing for me.

whysotriggered · 30/11/2020 17:05

@frenchdoors1 - my view is that you may as well give it a go! I am doing a long term project with another company and when I first started it was super confusing and it is still tricky at times but after nearly a year I am more confident. I suspect it will be the same with this.

Frenchdoors1 · 30/11/2020 17:12

@whysotriggered Ahh that's kind of you thank you Smile
This is the problem with this kind of thing when you're literally on your own and have to work it out for yourself.
I may give it a go later then.

Glad you have the confidence now on your project and I do know what you mean Smile
