I was excited to get my first appen pay - was for one project and only $10.80 - was bit deflated to realise they took $3 off me and the $7.80 is below the minimum to be withdrawn.... god knows how little that will actually be in £'s after i'm sure more fee's?

Does anyone know when to expect potato statement? I won't be getting paid from them as I only joined with a few days to go by end of month and dashboard wasn't set up so certain its under the £20 minimum.... but been working away this month so happy to let the little i earnt last month tag onto next.

TeddyDidIt · 12/11/2020 21:08

I have received quite a lot of from Neevo so I'm going to keep it in PayPal as dollars in case I'm kept on Am++ next month, so I don't lose out on currency so much. That works, right? 😆

Rad2016 · 12/11/2020 22:08

Those on Wr and Be on Appen, I wonder what's going one. We getting to 3rd week of November, nothing still.

YonderTweek · 13/11/2020 08:56

My a* products are coming in at a steady pace. I just received a £15 mug which just does not seem like it's worth £15. Grin Luckily it's got a photo of something my dad really likes so I'm going to send it to him as a little present.

I will say this though. One of the items I had to get was a blackhead vacuum. I've secretly always wanted to try one and I was so excited when it arrived. Haha. It's amazing! The quality isn't mind-blowing but it sure does the trick. My face has never been cleaner. Grin

Rad2016 · 13/11/2020 09:52

@YonderTweek that's interesting. That's the exciting bit about this project, looking forward to receiving the items ordered. I've only got one which was really crapt. I've emailed to send it back so waiting. I did the review yesterday so 9 to go. Can't wait to receive them all, not that I am looking forward to.

Dimsummummy · 13/11/2020 11:29

Can I ask Potato people as it’s statement day today (I think if I’ve calculated properly) , I usually opt for bank payment but was thinking of going PayPal this month for speed, a) how long does it usually take from submitting invoice? B) what are the fees like? (You can p.m me if it’s dubious to be discussing on here 😃 thanks x

I am! It's so frustrating! Especially as that can be an extra £200+. Wish they'd just tell us a straight answer either way.
TeddyDidIt · 13/11/2020 12:48

Ugh, wish I hadn't looked at Am chat from the last couple of days. Roll on reimbursement Confused

endofday · 13/11/2020 14:35

Anyone got their statements yet today?

0htooooodles · 13/11/2020 14:46

@endofday not yet

endofday · 13/11/2020 14:50

@0htooooodles this means we won't get the actual dosh today then. I know this is in the timelines it's just a bit annoying :-(

anxiouswaiting · 13/11/2020 15:02

Finally after months since I got the e-mail saying I was on the project I have got one saying my account is now active for Cab**. Anyone else on it? Does it have plenty of work? It says I have to do another exam so don;t want to waste time if there is no work.

Also have exams for Cal* and Ind** so hope they aren't too hard.

Only 1 of my Am** items has arrived so far, I don't dare look at the chat now, are people saying they didn't get paid? I can't afford to be out the £350ish I have spent!

Wolfff · 13/11/2020 15:20

@Dimsummummy

It's normally the 10th working day of the month. Normally if it's before say 4pm I have been paid the same day. If after then the next working day. Seems to have been a bit slower the last couple of months. PayPal do knock a bit off for fees as well.

Dimsummummy · 13/11/2020 15:32

Thanks @Wolfff I’ve just read there’s a cut off for changing payment method, and I’ve missed it for this month anyway. Might use it next month to ensure pre Xmas payment though 😃

0htooooodles · 13/11/2020 15:37

Statements in!

Wolfff · 13/11/2020 15:40

Mine isn't!

Tattiespuds · 13/11/2020 16:23

Potato people is it best to be paid via PayPal or bank?
Also anyone been doing it a few years that could say if they report how much they pay you to HMRC? I'm just in the process of setting up for self assessment now I'm earning on these side lines but was wondering as I know if I ran a business at home there is so much you deduct for costs like a percentage of broadband, electricity etc I'm new to this so want to make sure I'm getting the best of side earning.

Catatemyhomework · 13/11/2020 17:04

Anyone able to do work on C*y yet on Appen? I can't!

Wolfff · 13/11/2020 17:23

@Tattiespuds

The £1000 allowance is basically in lieu of other expenses, so you can't claim both.

As Crisp is a UK company its highly likely they provide information to HMRC about their payments to UK contractors.

Catatemyhomework · 13/11/2020 17:28

Did anyone on here do the data annotation project for Teamai (was isoftstone)? I haven't been paid yet and wondered if anyone else has. According to the dashboard they have all passed QC but it's been like that for ages now. Anyone else on this project?

lilmishap · 13/11/2020 18:07

Flippin eck. I didn't realise neevo owed me any, £100+ into paypal the last few days. I need to pay attention.

lilmishap · 13/11/2020 18:11

Bums! I just found a load of Teemwork emails in spam.

I have done it for a while and I don't know if they report your earnings to HMRC. I imagine so? I earned £9500 through them last tax year and with my other earnings I was just under the threshold still so I didn't bother claiming any expenses.

Also I think it's personal preference- if you want it quickly PayPal (but they take a %), if you can wait then bank transfer.
Redcrayons · 13/11/2020 20:23

@Tattiespuds I get mine straight into my bank. It would be more hassle to pay into PP and the transfer it over.

Re tax, you declare everything you earn from every source. What Crisp do has nothing to do with it.
Hearing and lighting etc, I haven’t bothered every other year but as I’m also Doing my ‘real’ job from home I will this time round.

Btw, (apologies if you already know this) Self assessment is due the year after you earn it. So if you’ve only been working since April this year then it won’t be due until tax year April 2021.
