Universal credit

I've just received a universal credit faster payment into my account. It's not my payment date and it's for a random amount. I've tried calling but they said they can't help over the phone. What is a universal credit faster payment?

Plot thickens. Got through on the phone and they didn't know either. She said I'll get a call by Monday night but the suspense is killing me

And now they say I haven't been sent any money.I don't really know what to do now, google has a few people asking but not many accurate replies

Has anybody else had this?

Are you owed money do to an underpayment or have you taken out an advance payment?

iamtheoneandonlyyy · 31/10/2020 18:23

No, neither. I've spoke to them again and they were mystified. They said maybe I've had someone else's money put in by mistake 🤷🏻‍♀️and I will hear back by Monday evening.
(Still secretly holding on to a tiny hope it's for meGrin) but also feeling bad somebody somewhere might be panicking about where their money is

Careful because it could be a scam, don't spend it till you get confirmation (as you obviously know). When it was first rolled out - and maybe still - people were making multiple claims on behalf of others, getting the advance and then it was down to the person whose name it was under to pay it back! This affected legacy benefits the person was claiming too so just ensure this doesn't if you are getting anything else.

Oh definitely, I've moved it so no payments come out of it and informed them straight away. It's so weird. She thanked me for being honest but I said I don't fancy assuming it's mine and then being in debt for it later. It's not a small amount, certainly not to me

If anybody with knowledge reads this, I'm just pondering. My universal credit doesn't seem to include jobseeking. From what I've read it should possibly and when I look at the numbers the amount in the random payment kind of fits with backdated jobseekers amount 🤔
However they said if it was for me I would have had a note.
Hopefully tomorrow they will tell me what to do

Brilliant news! I'd love to know how?

iamtheoneandonlyyy · 10/11/2020 11:29

From a previous claim that was done with and finished. It's why it couldn't be found as it was different details

Thats great news! It's usually them asking you for money. You're one of the lucky ones. Just in time for Christmas 🎄 (or not Wink )

iamtheoneandonlyyy · 12/11/2020 17:03

Well I'm a stroke of good and bad luck my washing machine broke but I've been able to replace it thanks to this. And yes Christmas will be a bit extra special for the kids but I'm being sensible and paying things off first. A rare stroke of good luck. Thanks for replying Smile
