Primark ripping me off!

Hi everyone,

I’m posting this here because I’m really annoyed at Primark and they will not admit they are at fault, and I need you lot to confirm I’m not going mad !

16th October I popped into Primark and bought 4 children’s pyjama sets, 1 pack of girls underpants, and 1 pack of boys underpants. The boys underpants had a red reduced sticker down from £4.50 to £1, when the lady scanned it i noticed it went through at £4.50, when I pointed that out she told me that “sometimes people put stickers on themselves” I replied “well I didn’t, there were lots of them, shall
I go and get another pack ?” She said I will
get a supervisor, called a chap over said I will void it and put it through at a pound. I paid. And left. And I was a bit annoyed at being accused of putting sale stickers on stuff, when she could easily have checked without the need to say that !

Anyway I got home and unpacked and as I totted up what I had bought I realised I had been overcharged- the £4.50

Now I know I should have been on the ball at the time and spoken to them before I left the shop but I didn’t, so I did the next best thing - got on Twitter, they contacted me and asked for my email and a chap emailed me, I replied explaining situation and attached a copy of receipt.

Waited over 10 days for a reply and today they’ve apologised for the behaviour of the staff but have said they won’t refund me the £4.50 as the item had been voided - and it has a void line in the receipt but the amount hasn’t been removed from the total.

Can you lot please look at my receipt and confirm I’m not going mad?

You will see 4 x £10 (pyjama sets)
1 x £3.50 (girls underpants)
1 x £4.50 (boys underpants original price)
A line where it says void and repeats the item code and info
1 x £1 (this was the sale price of the underpants)

But the £4.50 isn’t actually removed from the total so I end up paying £49,

Which is 4X £10
1 x £4.50
1x £3.40
1 x £1

I should have paid £44.50
4 x £10
1 x £3.50
1 x £1

I’m not cracking up am I? It should have cost £44.50 and not £49 ??

I make it £49.50 Confused

Bitterer · 27/10/2020 19:10

The £4.50 shows as being scanned, but immediately under it says void item, which I think means it's cancelled off?

If you tot up everything else (not including the £4.50) it comes to £49.

Leah2005 · 27/10/2020 19:11

If you add up all the figures it comes to £53.50 but you were charged £49. My brain hurts

wineandcheeseplease · 27/10/2020 19:11

They have voided the pants then rescanned them later.

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 27/10/2020 19:12

I meant £49 not £49.50

tigger001 · 27/10/2020 19:12

I make it £49.00 a with the £4.50 voided and the £1 instead

4x10 = 40
1x1 = 1
1x4.50 = 4.50
1x3.50 = 3.50

Total 49.00

Bitterer · 27/10/2020 19:13

Oh sorry ignore that - I've just fully re-read the OP and the receipt. Yep, they've scanned it twice and only voided it once.

PerfectlyImperfectx · 27/10/2020 19:13

It looks like the £4.50 towards the top has actually been voided but it has been scanned twice. Did you buy more than one pack?

Ignoringequally · 27/10/2020 19:13

Yes, they’ve voided it then rescanned later.

ApplePlumPie · 27/10/2020 19:14

Haha oh no! That’s not good !

The sale underpants are the “10pk DOTW BRI” which are scanned through at £4.50, then a little further down they are listed again as a voided transaction but then the £4.50 isn’t taken off the total if that makes sense .

Yes you're right, it should be £44.50 not £49. They've scanned the boys pants through again when trying to reduce them. I'd go back to the actual store.

ApplePlumPie · 27/10/2020 19:14

Nope only bought 1 pack

CloseEncountersOfTheTurdKind · 27/10/2020 19:14

The £4.50 pants are on there twice

ApplePlumPie · 27/10/2020 19:15

This is good - you are confirming that I haven’t lost the plot !

Leah2005 · 27/10/2020 19:15

Yes they've re scanned the pants again. You are right.

wineandcheeseplease · 27/10/2020 19:15

It was confusing but no you are right, they owe you

MrsA2017 · 27/10/2020 19:15

Looks to me like you’ve been charged for 2 x £4.50 item, one of these has then been voided, then you’ve been charged £1 on top?

Diverseduvet · 27/10/2020 19:16

Looks like they voided the pants, then scanned and charged you the £4.50 for the pants and £1 at the sale price as well?

Ynwa12345 · 27/10/2020 19:16

They have put through the pants twice

MostDefinitelyNot · 27/10/2020 19:16

It come to £49 which isn't including the £4.50 so you haven't been charged anything other than the £1 sale price.

Admittedly the receipt is not an easy one to read but it is correct.

GCITC · 27/10/2020 19:16

It looks like they've scanned the item twice but only voided it once. So yes, you've ended up paying £5.50 rather than £1.

Diverseduvet · 27/10/2020 19:16

Sorry X post

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 27/10/2020 19:17

AH yes. I see it now. Not sure how you'll ever prove you didn't buy 2 packs though!

MrsA2017 · 27/10/2020 19:17

Oh sorry didn’t see the other responses before I posted - yes I agree with PP!

Sunseed · 27/10/2020 19:17

The voided line should have shown a minus figure but it hasn't, it's positive, effectively charging you twice instead of cancelling out.
