How to make £1000+

RajaGemini · 27/10/2020 13:40

I have £1000 overdraft to pay off, and I'd also like to boost my income generally.
I'm on 2 survey sites, Qmee and curious cat , from which I can make £2 a day if i'm lucky.
I've heard of all the usual ideas, matched betting, Mystery shopper etc.
Just wanted to hear from people on here really, which sites/apps you used and how much you could typically make in a month ? Thanks

I honestly think those sites are just for fun, and any pocket money made is a bonus. Could you not get an extra income through babysitting, or taking in ironing, or oddjobing, etc etc? I would have thought that's be far more lucrative! I can make £40 in an evening babysitting. Don't think I made that is 4 years of surveys!

Have you evaluated all your outgoings? Can any savings be made?

Darkestseasonofall · 30/10/2020 11:01

Have you heard of matched betting? You can easily make a few thousand doing that, for maybe an hour a day.

If you have an ok credit score you can change bank account to one that offers a switching bonus. While your on, see if you can transfer the credit card to a 0 interest one.

ForeverBubblegum · 30/10/2020 11:03

Sorry that should read transfer the overdraft to a 0% interest credit card. Look on MSE for good deals.

Overdrafts are the pits to clear as it all feels a bit Groundhog Day. I’d look for a 0% money transfer credit card, pay off the overdraft with it and set up a direct debit for £10 above the first minimum payment and then challenge yourself to never go back into your overdraft and save as much as possible into a savings account every month. You can use that at the end of the 0% period to pay off the balance.

The Make £10 a day October thread

A couple of good boards from MSE but do have a tootle round the boards and see if you can find other ways of money saving.

The Grocery Challenge thread is a good one on this board.

Eat the contents of your cupboards, freezer and fridge. Make a shopping list and stick to it - use jack Munro tips on the Internet

Declutter and sort garage and attic ready for car boots when back on, we’ve done 4 and made £550
