Monzo plus

I’ve just opened a Monzo account having seen it recommended on MN many times, and I really need to keep a tighter grip on my finances.

My plan is to transfer a monthly spending allowance (food, petrol, weekly essentials et) and keep the majority of my income in my main bank —to——maybe— —one— —day— —clear— —my— —overdraft—

However, the app linked me to Monzo plus, which as far as I can see costs £5 per month? I keep a spreadsheet with my spends/bills on so if I am only using Monzo for weekly expenses, is the Plus worth getting?

I have Monzo and use a spreadsheet to keep on top of things so didn’t feel the Plus was worth it to me. When I looked at it there didn’t seem anything that jumped out to make the fee worth it.

Actually I’ve just looked it up again. The roundup thing would be great as well as virtual cards but tbh I use PayPal for sites I’m not sure of / most internet buying.

Overall though I love Monzo - it really has improved my spending habits as well as the pots being weirdly addictive and useful.

Thanks @LeroyJenkinssss I’m thinking I’ll try it without plus first to see how it goes.

Another question if you don’t mind! I’m setting up pots for different things - if I have a Christmas pot and want to buy a present at the shop, so I need to transfer the money to my main account, or is there a way to pay via card but it will come straight out of the Christmas pot? I’m confusing myself reading the app Blush

Not a problem @Thiswillbeinteresting

You do need to transfer money from the pot into the main account. You can set direct debits to come out of a pot though which is handy because then you know that money won’t be accidentally eaten into.
