Bailiff came to my door asking for me and I said I wasn't me because I panicked. I made up a name! Not a very clever name either as it was half my name. I was panicked because my landlord is next door and I didn't want anything happening under his nose.

Oh noooooooo I never lie. Arse.

What do I do now?

cant you ring the bailiff in a while and say that you panicked and didnt know what to do

Joash · 08/10/2007 12:27

FIRSTLY ... DO NOT LET THEM IN if they come back. ONce they have had access to your property - that can come in by any means they choose and there's not a thing you can do.
Call your local C.A.B, or money advice service, or advice centre immediately and go to see them - explain how urgent it is and insist on seeing someone NOW!!

Yes but I have no details for them but I know it was for the Council (Council Tax debt from when I lived with xp in London probably). Should i call the council?

You need to sort this straight away - Council tax debt is the one debt that you can go to prison for.

SpookyDooooo · 08/10/2007 12:29

Oh blimey no, good job they never asked to see some id with your name on

Just don't open the door again for now, what else did they say? I would get to CAB soon if i were you.

pneumalifenewname · 08/10/2007 12:29

Hmmm, I thought so. Okay so call to Council, yes?

Council tax is very very serious, now it is in the baliffs hands the council won't deal with you it has to go through the baliff...

pneumalifenewname · 08/10/2007 12:30

They asked me for landlord details, and how long I'd been there and I just muttered and frowned and said my name was Aimie something else but that I spelt it Amy

shall I call council to find out who bailiff is?

OP posts:
SpookyDooooo · 08/10/2007 12:32

Yes i would try & find out who they are, just say you were unsure of who was at the door as you have had alot of problems lately with your ex or something like that..

pneumalifenewname · 08/10/2007 12:34

ok that's okay then as that bit would be true

Thanks
