Workplace Pension and being Furloughed

I became eligible to join (or be enroled) in to the pension scheme at work in around January this year as I received a pay increase.
As Lockdown then struck and I was Furloughed, me joining the workplace pension was not discussed (although it was mentioned by me that I'd like to be in the pension when I asked for my pay increase).

Please can someone tell me...

1, Should I have automatically be enroled?
2, Can contributions be back dated? and
3, Prior to having the pay increase which made my basic contracted hours make me eligible to be enroled, would previously working overtime have made me eligible for previous years, or is eligibility based solely on my contracted hours?

Any advice on this and how to broach it with my employer would be very much appreciated.

Thank you in advance.
