Santander AIP with adverse credit

So our broker has managed to secure an AIP with Santander surprisingly even though my husband has poor credit (4 defaults currently being paid off) Apparently Santander use Experian to credit check which hasn’t bought up all of the defaults. Our broker says it’s up to us if we want to give it a shot and put a full application in, in the hope the underwriter doesn’t do any “digging”. Has anyone had positive experience with Santander and poor credit history?

It's generally a straight out decline, there is very little leeway, even more so for repeated defaults. They don't just use Experian for a full search, they use several agencies, and it will not go through, it won't even get in front of an underwriter unless there are grounds for appeal I.e. one late payment with a reasonable explanation.
