Backdated child benefit

HP2020 · 31/08/2020 18:58

I'm registering my sons birthday this Thursday at which point he will be 2 and a half weeks old. I will then call child benefit helpline to add him to my account (I have another child too). The new payment will be around £35 a week for both children so will this be backdated to his birth date or just starts Thursday once registered

As far as I know you'll get it back dated. I as late sending my child benefit form back (DS was a bout 10 weeks) and they did with me. I think the cut off is 3 months.

Yes it can be backdated for 12 weeks so for you, to the day they were born as long as you get your claim in within that timeframe.
