Income protection

DH and I have been discussing getting some sort of income protection insurance and I haven’t a clue where to start. DH is the higher earner but he happens to work for a company that only pay statutory sick pay. With everything going on we’ve been a bit worried that we could be put into a situation were his wages are reduced significantly.

Any advice on where to start would be appreciated! TIA

Do you have any health conditions?

I have very recently used a broker called Cura (Special Risks Bureau) who searched the market for me to find a provider who would cover me given my multiple jobs. They specialise in more complex situations but will arrange cover for anyone... you have an initial discussion about what you need and talk through various options and then they contact insurers on your behalf and talk to underwriters.

The director of Cura has some videos about specific cases, this one is about a client with OCD:

So the cover we would only get for DH. He doesn’t have any health problems - he is over weight which has affected how much our life insurance policy is so I expect that to affect any cover we get.
Thanks so much for that I’ll have a look
