Still not had flights refunded from April. A
Colleague mentioned that she had received her money back through her credit card. I paid via debit card, does anyone know if I can claim back and now
Thanks

I don't think so, unfortunately. Credit cards are protected under one of the consumer credit acts.

Yes you can. It’s called a dispute or a chargeback. Most banks offer this for debit card transactions.

It’s only Section 75 claims that are credit card specific

hastingsmua1 · 18/08/2020 22:08

Which bank is it?

dementedpixie · 18/08/2020 22:11

I've just linked to the info about debit card chargeback. It can be done

BackToWorkForMee · 18/08/2020 22:11

I reckon your colleague opened a chargeback (which you can also do with debit cards) rather than a credit card specific Section 75 claim, as she’s already got her money back! Section 75 claims are notorious for taking months to resolve, especially as there’s currently a huge backlog. Chargebacks on the other hand have strict deadlines for bank, customer and merchant responses so you’re guaranteed to have it investigated sooner.

Yes you can charge it back but the bank the flight company have you booking the flight and will use that as evidence - you won't win. Chargebacks are meant for when you didn't authorise the payment
dementedpixie · 18/08/2020 22:19

That is not just what chargeback is for. Read the link

Mangofandangoo · 18/08/2020 22:19

Unfortunately chargebacks can also take weeks to be investigated so you may find its not a quick fix

BackToWorkForMee · 18/08/2020 22:25

Thank you so much for the links. I will fill in the form tomorrow and fingers crossed I might get money back
