30 free hours when on Mat Allowance

I wonder if anyone can help me?

I’m trying to work out if next year when I have my baby, I’ll still be eligible for 30hrs free childcare for my 3 year old?

My current job ends when I go on Mat Leave. It’s a fixed term contract, so no Mat Pay. I’ll be claiming maternity allowance.

I know the 30hrs is available when I’m on Mat Leave, but not sure if I’m only claiming mat allowance.

CAB couldn’t advise; I wonder if anyone else can?

I wouldn't have thought so as you no l8nger gave a job but you will still get 15 hours free.

You wouldn’t be entitled but may be entitled to the 15 funded hours

Are you certain you don't get maternity pay? If you were employed at the relevant point you should get it even with a contract that finishes.

The best people to advise on mat leave and pay including the 30hoyrs would be maternity action - they have a really helpful telephone line.

You have a grace period which is usually a term so you should be entitled for that time but after, any checks run will say you are not longer eligible and will therefore be offered 15hrs.

I got it on mat leave (very handy) but was still employed

If you were still employed then yes, but as you will be out of contract ie unemployed, no.

I’m going to call maternity action. I called the government advice line today and they said I would get it; but the girl checked had to check with a colleague and also didn’t sound very confident.

No you won't- you get it while on mat leave because you're still employed

It’s just so frustrating! I’ve been full time employed for 20 years but had to take a contract role after redundancy as I couldn’t find a suitable FT role when pregnant.
