@GoldenKelpie - that's what conspiracy theories are based on - non-existent "threats" that we "need to wake up to" (a bit like Trump raising the spectre of Joe Biden as a 'Communist Trojan Horse", or hordes of immigrants imposing Sharia Law on a helpless indigenous population.
A friend of mine is a photojournalist who, for his sins, had to cover yesterday's loon fest in London. He says there were about 3 thousand people there, three quarters of whom were cranks and conspiracy nuts like Wig'n'Sleaze, while the other quarter was made up of a ragtag collection of far-right groups, including out and out Nazis.
Where this ties in to a certain extent with pyramid schemes and MLMs is a refusal to believe in 'science' (or even simple maths) and a large dose of 'magical thinking' (e.g. Law of Attraction and other such nonsense). It should therefore not come as too much of a surprise that there is an affinity between them and anti-vaxxers, CoVid deniers, anti 5G cranks etc...
It is also a useful way for scammers like our favourite 'Power Couple' to identify folks who are more likely to believe their promises of magic money and remedies and part with their cash.
