I’m hoping one of my very good friends has seen the light.
She joined tropic a while back. She doesn’t talk about it at al to me, and didn’t invite me to her launch party as she knows my stance on all mlms.
When I used to pop round, her bathroom was full of the stuff. I visited her this week and voila, just one bottle of something in there now. Hopefully she has seen the light. She is an accountant so I’m my view should have known better. They targeted her after her 3rd child when childcare costs were taking so much money. Bastards. Luckily she is very happy in her JOB.
Tropic is the elephant in the room we do not talk about though.

Allnamesaregone · 29/08/2020 08:56

But with Tropic sellers don’t buy product up front other than the sample kit. Stock is shipped direct and sellers receive a cut, so they’re not desperately trying to flog stock they’ve paid for. I’m desperately trying to understand how this is predatory.

CodenameVillanelle · 29/08/2020 09:03

There is a minimum sales target to stay active as a tropic bot which the uplines will pressurise their downline to achieve. Plenty of bots will buy the products for themselves or to gift to others to stay active. It's predatory because they are making money by pressuring people to buy product they don't want or need with false promises of making money.

Allnamesaregone · 29/08/2020 09:13

Umm - I’ve just read that their terms and conditions of being a seller state that they are forbidden to buy stock for themselves to bump sales. They are also limited to holding 20 items in stock. All sales are shipped direct to customers homes from central stock.

Norma27 · 29/08/2020 09:18

@allnamesaregone and you believe Tropic enforces those T&Cs? Any business operating using the mlm business model is operating knowing practically every single one of their reps will lose money.
There are plenty of other ethical skincare companies to buy from without supporting this terrible business model.

Allnamesaregone · 29/08/2020 09:21

Ok, I’ll leave it there.

Popihola · 29/08/2020 10:09

FLP also have rule and their reps garages are full of the shite. Have it shipped to your parents, sisters, friends whatever.

Spongebobette · 29/08/2020 10:24

So basically if they are in danger of not meeting the minimum sales target, and are forbidden to hold more than 20 items in stock, reps will get round this by placing orders to be shipped to their mum
The MLM looks squeaky clean and once again it’s the reps who are the victims. Why have a minimum sales target set for you every month if you own your own business? Because that way the ACTUAL owners of the business guarantee themselves a good income

Spongebobette · 29/08/2020 10:32

PS a quick search on FB marketplace shows LOADS of Tropic products at cheap prices
Reps unloading stock

Twentytwentyhindsight · 29/08/2020 10:34

As if the reps even needed this subterfuge...

All they'd have to say is that they have used, given away or sold the stock that they are holding, it's not as if head office is going to come and check (or even ask) how much stock is actually cluttering up their homes.

Spongebobette · 29/08/2020 10:41

And of course they buy one of every product for demonstration purposes

Bit like my Younique bot who is always demoing the latest mascara or foundation - which she had to buy - boasting about how many have been sold in the last 24 hours YES BY THE REPS THEMSELVES YOU SILLY COW, YOU ARE THE CUSTOMER

Getthekettleon2020 · 29/08/2020 11:38

More lies(sorry BS). Yawns BFF beauty therapist promotion bot has been pushing FL for nearly 6 years?
BFF excited about hand gel which is now appearing on fb marketplace.
As previously mentioned you can now get it anywhere now.

Re the rise of FM I note that there is a lot in our favourite bots neck of the woods.

BSintolerant · 29/08/2020 12:34

The products are good, her group is private and you ask to join, plus she doesn’t push to recruit as it’s direct sales not MLM.

The DSA want naive people to think that direct sales and MLM are different things. People who are well informed and alive to these so-called business models know perfectly well that direct sales and MLM are the same thing. To be clear: TROPIC IS AN MLM.

I know a Tropic bot with a huge team. If recruiting isn’t encouraged in Tropic why did she bother?

CompleteBarstool · 29/08/2020 12:55

Castle's pushing the planners on her Insta story. Apparently this year they have strictly numbers and expect to sell out by January.

Numbers are presumably limited because they haven't got the garage space any more to store the boxes of unsold ones 🤣

BSintolerant · 29/08/2020 13:34

There’s a Jewish proverb which says: “God laughs at people who make plans.” He must be pissing himself this year. I don’t know why Castle bothers really.

GoldenKelpie · 29/08/2020 15:10

@Allnamesaregone

I use Tropic and the person who sells it is not pushy. She runs a mystery hostess thing with orders so someone benefits often to the tune of £80-90. The products are good, her group is private and you ask to join, plus she doesn’t push to recruit as it’s direct sales not MLM. Products are sent out directly to your home. 🤷‍♀️ I can’t stand the pushy MLM companies.
That's good, I too hate the toxic social media pressure.

I have just bought some Timeless perfume £5 for 50ml that I like to use for work, from Avon, I am always getting compliments about the fragrance. Ordered Thursday online, came today.

My Avon lady (who has never badgered me to become a rep) hasn't been around for a good while now (not sure if its a lockdown issue) and its simple to order from main website.

Ha ‘limited stock available’ is the oldest trick in the book
Order one now before we run out!

acatcalledjohn · 29/08/2020 18:18

Order one now because we're skint!

Norma27 · 29/08/2020 19:35

Yawn’s taps look like a giant turd on the sink!

BSintolerant · 29/08/2020 22:01

@Norma27 Grin

It looks like one of her dogs has curled one out on the sink.

Twentytwentyhindsight · 29/08/2020 23:07

That would be the Dogue de Bordeaux, judging by the size.

CatherineCookson · 29/08/2020 23:43

Wig sharing a pic of Berlin's Love Parade in 2009 claiming it was today's protest and the comments are a thing of beauty.

BSintolerant · 30/08/2020 00:33

@Twentytwentyhindsight Grin

Yawn has excelled herself with her lavatorial designs. First she gave us the Bot Potty, complete with a bowl of tepid water and now she’s the proud owner of a tin can with turd taps.

Isn’t attraction marketing wonderful? Grin

BSintolerant · 30/08/2020 01:06

Another MLM thread ... www.mumsnet.com/Talk/bloggers/3900600-Usborne-books

Norma27 · 30/08/2020 05:47

I knew wig heavily filtered her photos. She has a live on her FB from yesterday morning. I wouldn"t even know it was her!
Also a pic on sleaze's FB. His face has totally altered shape, along with his body.
I will never understand these filtered pics. Obviously I know they do it to make themselves look better. It just makes them look so stupid though when everyone knows that is not the reality.
