Surviving on UC

How do I do it?

Lost job in March due to Covid.

Entitled to £106 per week.

Now run out of savings.

Offered a zero hours contract but seemingly too risky to lose UC.

Advice very welcome and if you want to say ‘welcome to our world’, please make me feel welcome as the new kid in town.

You take the zero hours contract. Even if you only get a few hours work , your Uc will still top up. For each pound you earn you will lose 63p of UC ( assuming you don't have children). If for one month you did earn too much to get any UC then your Uc account can lie dormant and can be re-opened.
