"confirm previous earnings from work"

I've recently applied for universal credit, as I've separated from my husband. This morning I received a message in my to do list asking me to 'confirm previous earnings from work.' I've been a stay at home mum for over 12 months so have no income to put down. It says partner's income too though. What relevance would his past income have on my current claim? I haven't submitted a joint claim and certainly can't have my claim based on his earnings because I get nothing. Why do they need that info? Any help much appreciated! thanks x

You have not got a partner currently so I would put zero.

It’s to see if you have a grace period before the benefit cap is applied

This seems the obvious answer, I haven't made a claim but I wouldn't assume anything other than a current partner is what they mean.
