Hi
Would anybody know if a lender would approve a mortgage for an 82 year old?

This suggests it would be unlikely

What is the capital needed for? And is there enough income to be able to cover the interest payments?

To buy a house. I'm not sure about the financial situation. It's not for me but I suspect they would have funds.

Sounds like they would benefit from talking to a specialist later life financial adviser who could look at all options and help them avoid any inadvertent pitfalls.

If a lender can be found, a very substantial deposit is going to be required.

I doubt it. Although it's not impossible.

Based on recent experience - most do to 70, quite a few to 75. Over that tricky I think.
