I'm currently working part time and receive WTC and CTC. Single parent to 1 child and I have a mortgage.
There's a high change I'll be losing my job withing next couple of months because of lack of funding in the organisation.
Just wondering that, if I have to switch from WTC and WTC to UC as part of the unemployment benefit claim process, would I be eligible for any help with my mortage or council tax?
Would I make the claim online ? Never done this or been in this position before so I'm not really sure how it works.

There is no longer any help with mortgages. If after 29 weeks you are still unemployed. Then you can claim a loan for the interest part of your mortgage. Bit you have to pay it back.

It's a 39 week wait on Uc with no earnings before you can claim support for mortgage interest. I imagine with the amount of people who are likely to be made redundant and have mortgages to pay the government may reduce this wait time like they did a couple of years back. You would be entitled to council tax support.
