How do you store / share account details?

In terms of division of labour in our relationship, I manage our money. Over the years I have put various small saving pots in different places, as and when we have had a bit extra to save, and depending on what offers were around. Some are in my name, some in joint names. I always tell DH what accounts I've opened at the time (especially for joint ones where he has to be part of the signup), but he has a terrible memory for things like that and he has no idea what money is where.

I don't know how to securely communicate the information to him in case anything happens to me. Many of the accounts are online only, and we don't have any paper details. I don't feel particularly secure in writing things down and keeping in the house, we have been burgled before. I am aware of the fact that email isn't secure, so don't want to email the info to him. How can I make sure he has the info he needs, but in a secure way?

Thanks for any ideas!!

Start a Google Doc, and share it with your partner.

Things work the same in our household. I have saved a password protected document on our laptop with the details of all our accounts, life insurance etc. We have also sorted lasting power of attorney for finance to make things easier should anything happen to me.
