You can apply online and maybe do ID verification online. You won't be able to get an advance until you've done the ID check either online or waiting for someone from Uc to call you back.

Babyroobs · 11/07/2020 16:26

Are you currently on tax credits?

gingerbreadslice · 11/07/2020 16:32

I am currently on full legacy benefits.

Ok so you are aware that tax credits would stop straight away. If you currently receive housing benefit then that should run on for 2 weeks.

I have no photo ID and couldn't verify my identity online. (I think that's done with passport or driving license number). I had to take various proofs of address into the job centre. (This was pre covid). It was almost impossible as almost everything is paperless these days so I didnt have anything to take!

gingerbreadslice · 11/07/2020 16:59

@Babyroobs Yeah I know I've been saving to cover myself

why do you need to change?

gingerbreadslice · 11/07/2020 17:23

I'd prefer to have it monthly to budget better it's almost impossible to atm

It's a bad idea to change before you have to, a lot of people are significantly worse off on UC than legacy benefits. Get some proper advice from CAB on your situation.

How often do you get your benefits right now?

Belowwreck · 12/07/2020 22:55

Don't do it.

And lots of people are significantly better off too. A benefit check from CAB is the best way to find out.
