In February I started working, on a casual basis, for a guy I know who needed a bit of extra help. Currently I invoice him for my time on a self employed basis, because initially it was unclear how much help he would need (and I was already self employed).
From September I will be working for him part time, but regularly and I have asked that it could be paid through PAYE. He has agreed to that, but has asked how it’ll work with irregular hours (for example, I shall only be working term time). If I am paid PAYE, it can be a different amount each pay period, can’t it? I can just keep tally of the hours I have worked and submit it in real time through PAYE. Are there any problems with that? Any issues I might not have anticipated?
