Hello all,
I bought an electric bike on FB marketplace 🙄. It was picked up by someone I know. Looking at the bike closely, I noticed it was spray painted and is got dirreffrent brand names all over it.
I have called seller a few times and sent messages & of course no answer or reply. I knew I was taking a risk when I bought it.
What can I do? Can I get my money back through the bank? I paid through Tide also, how do I go about reporting this scumbag of a person?

You didn't view the bike before payment in person ?

Is it one of the electric bikes that used to be part of a hire scheme? Ie stolen and then painted black.

Is Tide similar to PayPal?

I think the legal principle is "caveat emptor"tbh

No, you won’t be able to get your money back, unfortunately.
Take this on the chin and in future don’t pay for something without inspecting it first.

(Sorry if this sounds blunt!)

What is wrong with the bike? Is it a different colour from the advertisement? Or not electric?

Afaik if you've paid by bank transfer, doesn't matter who you bank with, you're not going to get your money back.

Does the bike work OK, is the issue that you've paid too much rather than it's a faulty bike?
