Has anybody ever dealt with this company?

Am wondering where to start with this tbh!

DS decided to apply for a provisional driving license a few months ago. He's a bit of a know-all (sorry son). He kept saying it was the Ministry of Transport and I questioned why he hadn't done it through DVLA.

He has just had a statement which says £108 has gone out of his account to Call Services Ltd. Obviously we'll be ringing the bank but just wondered whether anyone could shed some light on this?

Hoping someone can help although he may just have to put it down to experience. Thank you

I doubt the bank will do anything.

If you Google Call Services Ltd, you will find a website thay says they will arrange driving licenses etc for you. It also says at the bottom of the page that they are not affiliated with the DVLA and that they will charge a fee for their services. There are plenty of sites like these, that charge a whopping fee for doing something that you could do yourself for cheaper (or even free sometimes). Your son really should have made sure that he was on the official DVLA site, sorry.

Thanks @Hilary. Have you Googled them? I did and all that came up was that they were registered with Companies House. I thought I had anyway.

At least what you have said makes a bit of sense re why he did it. Honestly, I thought he had more sense!

One more thing - does it mean he has a provisional now albeit a very expensive one?!

Sorry, forgot to post the link: myvehiclesinfo.com/contact.php

£108 is their fee and is clearly listed on the first page.

Cross posted! Yes, would say that he will get his license, its just cost him a lot more than it should have.

Thank you so much. That has saved me so much time. What a fool! (Him)

Oh wow, what a whopping mistake that is. Should a provisional only be around £30 odd? A silly and expensive mistake but hopefully he will learn from this

SpideyMom · 10/06/2020 15:28

sorry but on a side note, shame on these companies that do this. I never knew they even existed let alone are allowed to do it

Guardsman18 · 10/06/2020 15:33

I know @SpideyMom. The only time I've ever seen it was when I was trying to get an EHIC card which are free but this place (whoever they were) were asking £50 plus as I recall.

Yes, they are £30 something from the DVLA.

The pair of you need some lessons on how to use google.

If you google "apply for provisonal driving licence" every item on the first page is either a gov.uk page or tells you to do it via gov.uk

If you type in "call services ltd" the second suggested result is "call services ltd on bank statement" that takes you to a page that explains exactly what it is.

How are you not seeing it? Confused
