I wonder if anyone has any advice. I run a salon in London but unfortunately have 5k business rates debt. We have had the salon for around 3 years and we are entitled to £25k business grant rateable value of 17,500. We also cannot open until 4th July and have around 4 more years on our lease so you can imagine the stress. We were on a payment plan with the debt, last payment was in February.
The council have rejected the application due to arrears so we asked them if we can settle the debt and apply for the grant and they were very iffy about this. No clear answers and nothing in writing. We have sent countless emails but never any response and again nothing in writing. Most of the free legal advice we have asked for states nothing about not getting the grant due to arrears.
Its extremely stressful as its a domino effect. I put so much work and effort into this place. I was wondering if anyone can give any advice, I’m thinking to get some legal advice.
