I use Monzo as a Secondary account and love it! I have managed to save over £2k since using it with using a combination of the round up features and the IFTTT app! Penny a day, pound a week challenge etc. It’s made me want to save more.
I at first got it for when going on holiday as the charges would be less than my high street bank and so I would not need to get as much cash out.

Yes I use it to manage my money. and so much easier to transfer money to friends etc (we tend to club together for birthday gifts etc) Sounds silly but the bright colour means I never lose it either (I was forever leaving my old ones lying around)

I still use my HS bank for wages and savings but transfer my 'spending' money to monzo every pay day, as well as short term savings pots for my annual car servicec/ MOT, xmas presents and car insurance. it's super easy to see your spending and purchases instantly show up.

We use a mozo account as our joint account for shared household costs, best thing we ever did. mortgage, bills, food comes out of this and anything left at the end of the month is scraped over into a pot for a new kitchen.

DP loves it so much he's gotten rid of his HSB and monzo is his main bank now.

I love it. It’s absolutely changed our lives money wise! I have pots on there for all sorts of things - Christmas, next years MOT, holidays, school uniform etc. Can’t imagine being without it now.

Partner and I have a joint Monzo account for our household expenses. We decided to open one when we were trying to figure out when we last made a payment to a certain party and with First Direct it was a pain: their site lets you search only the last few months, and if you download older transactions the payee names are blanked out!

With Monzo, instead, it is very easy to have total control of your expenses: you can add notes to remind you what each transaction was for, you can classify them into categories, you can search very easily, etc.

Just two caveats:

  1. I am not sure how good Monzo would be for very large payments (eg a house purchase).

  2. The other side of the coin of the total control is that, for joint accounts, that would be the dream of controlling/abusive partners, since you get instant phone notifications every time you or your partner makes a purchase. We actually both thought of that.

I’ll text my partner like ‘McDonald’s again?! Seriously?’ Grin
