We are currently receiving UC as I have a new job but cant start at the moment so have no money coming in and my partner has been off sick since jan (awaiting to see a arm specialist) and his work are possibly going to let him go

Seeing as we are claiming UC can he (if he gets paid off) claim JSA?

No

I'm sure he can claim it along side but I think it depends on his national insurance contribution.

Here is a link with more info .

Sorry just seen that hes waiting to see about his arm. If hes not looking for work he wont be able to claim it

If you claim JSA you need to actively be looking and applying for work, and be fr to do so. You need to demonstrate every wk what you are doing including Cv,s phonecalls, emails ect.

Possible he might be able to claim new style esa if he can't work

You can claim new style jsa alongside UC but it is deducted from your UC award so it’s pretty pointless.

Sick notes to UC when his job ends.
That will lead to them sending a work capability form out to assess for esa,but it is not a quick process

Livelovelife35 · 29/05/2020 21:36

Was thinking it might he deducted
We get a good but just now as I'm on no income and hes on sick pay

So if his company does let him go then I guess the UC will go up

Reason hes off is a ongoing issue with arm had a major op 14 years ago then had another 4 years and ever since 2nd op hes had extreme pain and swelling on and off just jan it's been constant so awaiting to see a specialist which was meant to be before lockdown but now could be months
